07 24 17 D.C. Adventure
^ Dropped off some art for Nikki's internship !
^Visited a new restaurant and tried vegan mac and cheese (we will definitely be coming back)
^Took some pics because we found an aesthetically pleasing wall ( insta @trulythora)
^ Visited our new favorite museum The National Portrait Gallery
^Walked down H street and ate some trendy cereal milk ice cream
^ And here's the grand finale a concert in the National Portrait Gallery. These happen once a month where a band picks the art for this room, performs, and shares their choices. When we went (all the way back in June) the band performing was Flasher. They are an up-and-coming band from D.C. that definitely deserves some recognition. Not only are their music videos out of the box but they are so indie that their first EP was released on cassette. Currently they have two EPs available on Spotify, vinyl, cassette (which is shockingly sold out already), and online download. Flasher has an alternative rock vibe and was the best way to end any night. From the second level we could see the crowd enjoying the tunes while we stood with our entourage of busts and paintings. However, watching the band finish the last song of their tour on ground level was priceless.
If you want to track this band like I will be until they return to D.C. in October (2017) then go check out their website here

So I decided to dye my hair purple.
I never thought I would dye my hair but I'm going into my senior year so why not? Hair always grows back and plus basic brown is easy to return to. It's not like I went skydiving but either way it feels like I have a whole new perspective. There are so many things I thought I would never do but now, with purple hair, I just have to make a list. I'm not counting down the days until I get a tattoo but I'm looking forward to conquering some small experiences.

Richmond Road Trip
Checked a new box off my bucket list yesterday by going on a road trip to Richmond with my bestie Nikki. A long car ride with some good music, snacks, and a friend to talk to is the best especially with a destination as exciting as this one. After we got to the city we sprinted through the rain to a thrift store called Rumors where we bought some cute earrings on an admissions ticket. Then we grabbed the umbrella and headed for the Virginia Common Wealth (VCU) art gallery. Among all of the modern art one that stood out was a collection of unique tweets written and created with mixed media. Another was an idea to invent a persona out of different people by including their names on a tape "person". After checking it was okay both Nikki and I attached our names to this new persona. Nikki then led an informal tour of VCU and we looked at the main parts of campus aka dorms, class buildings, cafeterias, libraries, and of course bookstores. Because VCU is so creative street art can be found on many corners and even on campus i.e. the mural we saw in the library. Together we experienced what the next four years of our life might become while laughing and snapchatting the whole way. I can't wait to keep trying new things but until then...

Taco Tuesday
I went with my friend Nikki on another fun food adventure last week and ended up at this really unique restaurant called District Taco. The atmosphere here was pretty calm and the decor was super interesting. How many other times have you seen crates turned into colorful lamp shades? Although the food doesn't photograph well I can honestly say this place is my new go to for tacos, burritos, etc. Plus the guacamole is free and I can't think of anything better then that. I can't wait for another crazy road trip here!

Hikes at the Falls
I spent part of Saturday taking a hike through Great Falls Park with an amazing group of friends. We climbed over rocks, stumbled across tree roots, and eventually found our way to some beautiful views. Convenient for us Friday through Sunday all national parks were celebrating their 100 year anniversary so entry was free! We decided to buy matching centennial hats to remember this once in a lifetime experience. All in all visiting local parks is an inexpensive way to get a new outlook and perspective on where you live.

New York, New York!
I recently visited New York City with my school's Russian language program to show the Russian exchange students the Big Apple. Here's a brief outline of our day trip:
Saw The Statue of Liberty of course |
Awed over the World Trade Center Memorial |
Our last stop was Times Square where we went into small groups and were allowed to go wherever! |
For this day trip I decided to stick with something comfy and threw on my favorite jeans from PacSun (Gypsy Warrior), my addidas, a 1/4 zip I have from my school's crew team, and a green Jansport backpack. However my sister dressed for Fifth Avenue wearing a Coach purse, Calvin Klein boots, an Anne Klein coat, some Hollister jeans, and a scarf from YSTRDY.
We went to lunch at Europa with my favorite bloggers Julia (juleschristine.blogspot.com) and Lauren (praisethecraze.blogspot.com) and then split up to go walk around the city.
My sister and I ended up getting a lobster tail from Carlo's for dessert which was amazing!
Overall this trip was a really fun way to enjoy exploring the city with my sis and meet some new friends from Russia!
